On the trail, you will come across a beautiful monastery of Palyul Chyangma Urgen Choling. The monastery was built by a local few decades ago. However, after the earthquake and the death of the local guardian, the monastery was abandoned for a while in a broken state. However in 2016, Khempo Sangay Rinpoche took over the renovation and operation of this beautiful monastery. In addition to the physical rebuilding, the Lama has also taken it upon himself to make this monatery a lively place. There is even a student exchange program between this monastery and a monastery in Pharping (Kathmandu). If you are lucky, you might be able to see those students practice their rituals here. Overseeing these students are four lamas who live here throughout the year and perform the regular poojas for the main Vajra Guru. Indeed under Khempo Sangay Rinpoche, this monastery has not just become a lively place but also a beacon of hope for everyone in Bhandar.
