Hikers and pilgrims come all the way to the Jamacho peak either to get an amazing bird's eye view of the Kathmandu Valley or to get a glimpse of the beautiful Jamacho Stupa. Painted in bright white, the Jamacho stupa will be the first to congratulate you for making it to Jamacho peak. Standing right in the middle, this tall bell-shaped stupa has colorful statues of Lord Buddha embedded all around its surface. The boldness of red borders, the glory of the yellow crown and the calmness of the white body give the whole atmosphere a vibe of courage, compassion, and composure. Take a minute to admire the intricate details on the stupa! Just as any classic stupa, the head consists of serene eyes of Lord Buddha and gold crown placed neatly above it. Also, the canopy consisting of the lotus flower is what tells the significance of stupas like this. The canopy signifies Lord Rinpoche who is said to have risen from a lotus flower. One can find a huge statue of Lord Rinpoche in the monastery located close to the stupa as well. Also, notice that while all four sides of the stupa have colorful buddhas in the same meditation pose, the east side has two extra rows of black statues of various Buddhist gods as well as goddesses each signifying their own stories. Butter lamps of various sizes rest on this respected stupa. Bells for ringing are hanged near this dome-shaped body. Prayer flags are connected from various corners to the Jamacho stupa's crown. It's delightful to watch how these little things add beauty to this stupa! Do not let go of your chance to light Rs.20 butter lamps and harmonize the atmosphere with the sounds of bells!
