Continuing the tradition of small shrines with huge following, is this local divinity of Landruk village. The shrine is again a reminder of the animistic religion and nomadic culture of the Gurungs. Living in close association with nature and far from overarching religious philosophies, they probably didn't have the time or the resource to spend on large religious edifices. This perhaps lends credence to Krishnamurthi's saying that when "one loses the deep intimate relationship with nature, then temples, mosques and churches become important."
