On top of the steep flight of stairs, lies the Bichpau cave surrounded by lengths of Prayer Flags. Inside this cave is a huge statue of Lord Buddha calmly meditating along with other small statues. Tibetans periodically visit this cave and one can find bells, incense sticks, tormas, and books of a Buddhist priest around the various statues of the cave. Tibetans especially visit this place during late October and early November to call and worship their ancestors' spirit. A glistening stone inside the walls of the cave also adds a lot more religious value to this cave. The glistening stone apparently represents the tail of a naga (serpent) which, according to legend, used to bask at this spot when Kathmandu Valley was a lake and its waterline would come up to this spot. Also, while the tail resides here in this cave, the stone representing the head of the serpent is found at Jamacho peak. Now, that's an insanely huge serpent we're talking about!
