- Location
- Sundarijal
- Altitude
- 1,359 m
The museum that you will see at Sundarijal is under reconstruction at the moment due to the devastating earthquake that occurred during 2015. However, this place has undergone a huge transformation before a museum was actually been constructed. It was first an Army General Quarter. Then, after the detention of great political leaders of Nepal, it got transformed into a Rajbandigriha, a place where political prisoners are kept. Then, it stood as a tall erect museum which had been a center of attraction for the people! B.P Koirala, a profound politician and a writer, was put in jail by Late King Mahendra for fighting against the king's autocratic Panchayat System in Nepal. The place where the museum has now been established was once a jail where B.P Koirala was imprisoned. He then wrote many books and later died in that particular prison. Hence, the museum has been constructed in his memory.
