PHAPLU - The airport town

  • 2,485 meters

Phaplu is the town with the airport. Yes, an airport which does have a regular flight. However, unlike Lukla, Phaplu airport is less busy and tourism is yet to be a major component of the economy. The town however plays the most important role in your trek as the food you will eat on the teahouses to Everest are supplied from here. With few lodges and hotels, it is quieter than Salleri. The town is also the beginning of major road links between Kathmandu and the remote area of Solukhumbu. You can get jeeps from here to Traksindo, Junbesi and Benighat.
