GHUSANG - Princess Hideout

  • 3,920 meters

With just two lodges Ghusang (also spelled Gunsang) is a small village. The settlement is towards the south from the trekking trail. This could be a good spot for a tea stop as the beautiful mountain views of Annapurna II, III, IV, and Gangapurna will accompany you while you sip away all the fatigue. There is also a ruined hideout here on the ridge which could be of interest to some. This was probably used during the time when conflict arose between the Ghales and Gurungs.

Also, from here on you can start consuming sea buckthorn juice available in some of the lodges which is quite beneficial in thinning blood. At high altitudes, our body produces more red blood cells in order to cope with the scarcity of oxygen at high altitudes. But more red blood cells means that our blood thickens which in turn may cause internal blood clots (one of the reasons for staying active during your rest days). This is precisely why buckthorn juices are useful at high altitudes.
