Ghermu is a rarity. What might seem like a small patch of flat land is
actually as large as the Great Plains would be if you brought it to Nepal. And
this patch of land is one part lodges and 5 part fields. Its location far
away from the road has also kept the rustic nature of the place rather intact.
The usual strategy when one gets to Ghermu is to cross the suspension bridge
to Syange and keep walking. However, very few people are aware of a second
route that is not walked all that often but which will bypass the road till
Jagat. But here is the word of warning, the trails aren't marked very well and
some parts of the section are rather precarious especially the section close
to a micro-hydroelectric project. If you are still set on walking through this
section ask around the lodges for the trail to Chipla. The trail also involves
some very steep inclines. :)
